Granting Livy the Ability to Impersonate

Prerequisites: Before completing the steps in this subsection, install and configure Livy as described in Installing Livy> and Configuring Livy.

To grant Livy the ability to impersonate the originating user:

Add the following property to <HADOOP_HOME>/etc/hadoop/core-site.xml:

<property>
      <name>hadoop.proxyuser.livy.groups</name>
      <value>*</value>
</property>

<property>
      <name>hadoop.proxyuser.livy.hosts</name>
      <value>*</value>
</property>

Login as root, or use root privilege, to create a user home directory for the livy account, on HDFS.
Restart HDFS.
Restart YARN.
